Rub My Foot and I'll Take a Bite
We've been introducing solid food (or to her new toys) to Lizzie for a couple of weeks now. Every now and then she'll take a spoonful, but most of the time she'll blow raspberries as we try to put the spoon in her mouth. This last weekend we discovered a trick to getting her to eat. We rub her foot! She'll open her mouth, take the food and swallow when her foot is being rubbed. When I get a little more time, I'm going to do some research to see if there is a cause and effect really occurring or whether this trick is just a fluke.
Timber!
Each night, I read to Lizzie as we both sit on the bed. While I was read Dr. Seuss' 'Hop on Pop' I noticed Lizzie started to sway back and forth just a bit. Soon her eyes were closed and the swaying started to take the shape of big circles. Then...timber! She fell backwards and was asleep. I was happy that she was off to a restful sleep, but sad that my reading put her there so easily.

Lizzie Goes to Las Vegas
We had some friends call Lizzie's exersaucer 'Las Vegas' and thought it was so funny that we now say 'Lizzie needs to go to Vegas' when we need a moment to eat dinner. Now that she's starting to eat solids, we've started to eat dinner as a family. Although Brett and I normally walk away from dinner with banana, avocado, etc. splatted on us.

Separation Anxiety
The other night, Lizzie was crying while Brett was holding her. Brett called for me to come take her because he said her crying was due to separation anxiety from me. I laughed at his reason, but picked Lizzie up anyway. She immediately stopped crying. On the one hand, I was touched that my daughter wanted her Mommy. On the other hand, I was worried that she would never let me put her down (not too distant memories of when she was a newborn). My worries were assuaged when Lizzie started to whimper a minute later. I looked down and noticed that her eyes were following Brett as he put away the big exercise ball that she loves to be bounced on all of the time. So Lizzie was having separation anxiety...from her ball.
