What It Means to Die
Liz has been asking Brett and myself a lot about dying lately and keeps asking why Nana Sally and Grandma Carol can't come over to play. What do you tell a four year old? During one conversation Brett and I were telling Liz that when someone dies, it doesn't mean the love dies. Also you can still think of them and say 'I think they would have liked that or this.' It means that life is never the same, but it doesn't mean that life can't be wonderful. It does mean that you'll miss someone who dies since you can talk to them, but they can't talk back in the manner that they once use to. So...by now Brett and I are both tearing up and thinking about what to say next when Liz said a wonderful thing that would only come from a child - 'Hey, you forgot that you can still mail ponies from heaven.'
