I thought about having multiple blog entries for this trip, but then decided to put all the pictures together because it was one wonderful, mash-up trip of bubble baths, a Christmas market, skiing (Scott's and Brett's first time).... With regards to skiing, Scott let go of my poles the first time he went down the hill because he thought I was going too slowly. He ended up running into a snow bank and decided that he should not do that again. Lizzie and Ally were in ski school and at the end of their respective classes, they had a race and won medals. Liz won silver (there were only two kids in her class) and Ally won bronze (there were 7 or 8 kids in her class). I liked that each kid received a medal but that it was still a contest. Switzerland had a lot of great ideas like having a green and red light for the two story slide in the mall.
There were Barbie fashion shows (I broke down and bought Liz her first Barbie) and the kids had their own fashion show. Scott liked to dress up as a pirate and we tried not to laugh given the outfit was a girl's pirate dress that was 4 sizes too large for him. There was ice skating, ducks and swans to feed in Lake Zurich, and amazing food (even the $130 Chinese take out).
Even though we went to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, what meant the most to me was spending time with family and that these four children got to spend quality time together. I talk to my sister almost every day, but it's important to both of us that our children are close. For my kids this was accomplished as they both cried when we left and still miss their cousins. Both Liz and Scott on separate occasions asked me too about how they can marry Gracie when they're older. I told them that they can marry whomever they choose, but they cannot marry family. I made a joke that we're not from the south and I need to include that we're not from Austria as well. Viktoria heard about the kids wanting to marry their older cousin and she said that they were removed enough to marry in Austria. So now I need to say that you can't marry family because we're not from the south or Austria :)
