Liz wanted to look through my Mom's jewelry box. She likes to do that from time to time. My Mom kept a hodge-podge of items in her jewelry box....cat whiskers, a pin of the American flag (she wore this on her pajamas), some jewelry (which was probably broken or she only had one earring to a pair), jacks (the game) and turtles. She also had this cute little gold fan that she probably found at a consignment shop. I don't remember seeing this fan growing up, but oh how my Mom loved little things and would collect little things all the time.
Liz asked if she could have the fan when she's older and able to take care of it. She would then pass it onto her daughter since it's priceless. She then commented that my Mom had so many beautiful pieces of jewelry and what treasure she had. It made me smile that Liz saw such treasure in that box. I see treasure too but for a different reason. It reminded me how much of a kid my Mom was and that she always knew how to have fun. I miss her funny ways.
